Massage FAQ

01 What kind of massage do I actually need?

Honestly? Most people don’t know - and that’s completely fine.

You don’t need to turn up with a diagnosis or a perfectly curated plan. We’ll have a quick chat about what your body’s been dealing with - tight shoulders, stress, gym fatigue, bad sleep, life - and I’ll tailor the treatment to you.

Think of it less like a menu… and more like a custom build.

02 Will it hurt?

Short answer: it shouldn’t make you want to square up to me.

Some techniques - especially deep tissue or sports massage - can feel intense in that “good pain” kind of way. But you’re always in control.

If you’re holding your breath or tensing up, we ease off. No heroics required.

03 Do I need to be completely undressed?

Only to your comfort level - always.

Most treatments work best with direct skin contact, but you’ll be professionally draped throughout the session. Nothing exposed that shouldn’t be.

Prefer to keep some clothing on? No problem - treatments can always be adapted.

04 Is massage just for relaxation or does it actually do something?

Both - and that’s where the magic is.

Yes, you’ll leave feeling calmer, but massage can also help with:

  • Reducing muscle tension
  • Improving flexibility and movement
  • Supporting recovery after training
  • Easing the everyday “niggles” you’ve been ignoring

So no - it’s not just indulgence. It’s maintenance.

05 How often should I get a massage?

That depends on what you need from it.

  • General wellbeing or stress relief - every 4-6 weeks
  • Active lifestyle or gym training - every 2-4 weeks
  • Specific tightness or ongoing issues - a short course closer together

Or… when your body starts sending passive-aggressive signals.

06 What should I do after my massage?

Keep it simple.

  • Drink some water
  • Take it easy afterwards
  • Let your body settle and recover

You might feel floaty, sleepy or slightly tender later that day - all completely normal. Your body’s just processing the work.

07 Can you get rid of knots in one session?

I wish I had that superpower.

Some tension can ease quickly, but most “knots” build up over time through posture, stress, training and habits.

You’ll usually notice a real difference after one session, but lasting results come from consistency.

Think progress - not instant miracles.

08 I go to the gym / cycle a lot - is massage worth it?

Absolutely. It’s basically your recovery cheat code.

Massage can help:

  • Speed up recovery
  • Reduce stiffness
  • Improve movement
  • Support performance
  • Help prevent injuries

Which usually means fewer aches… and less hobbling down the stairs.

09 Is massage awkward if I’ve never had one before?

Usually for about 30 seconds.

After that, you’ll realise it’s just a calm, professional environment where your only job is to switch off and relax.

No judgement. No weirdness. Just your body finally getting some proper attention.

10 How do I book and what’s your cancellation policy?

Booking is quick and easy online through Fresha.

  • Changes within 24 hours
  • Missed appointments / no-shows

are charged in full.

Waxing FAQ

01 Is waxing really worth it compared to shaving?

Short answer: yes. Your future self will thank you.

Shaving is quick but comes with baggage - stubble, itching, ingrowns, and that “sandpaper by day two” situation.

Waxing removes the hair from the root, so you get:

  • Smoother skin for longer
  • Softer regrowth
  • Fewer ingrown hairs when done properly

Less maintenance. Better results.

02 How painful is it… honestly?

Let’s not lie - you’ll feel it.

But it’s quick, controlled, and over before you’ve had time to reconsider your life choices.

Most clients say it’s nowhere near as bad as they expected. Plus, the more regularly you come, the easier it gets.

03 What areas can I get waxed?

If it grows… it can go.

Common treatments include:

  • Back & shoulders
  • Chest & abs
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Intimate areas - handled professionally, always

If you’re unsure what you want, we can tailor things so the results look natural and not overdone.

04 Do I need to trim before I come in?

If it’s very long, a light trim definitely helps.

Ideal hair length is around 0.5-1cm.

  • Too short? Wax won’t grip properly
  • Too long? Slightly more “spicy” than necessary

If you’re unsure - leave it and I’ll sort it.

05 Is it awkward getting intimate areas waxed?

Only in your head.

From my side, it’s simply another treatment - professional, efficient and completely judgement-free.

You’ll be guided through positioning, kept covered where possible, and treated with total respect throughout.

Most clients say the awkwardness disappears within minutes.

06 How long do the results last?

Typically around 3-4 weeks of smoothness.

Hair usually grows back softer and finer over time, especially when you stick to a regular routine.

No daily upkeep. No panic shaving before events. Just… sorted.

07 Will I get ingrown hairs?

They can happen - but we actively reduce the risk.

Key aftercare tips:

  • Gently exfoliate a few days after treatment
  • Keep the skin clean and hydrated
  • Avoid tight clothing immediately afterwards

Regular waxing also helps train the hair to grow back properly - less drama, fewer bumps.

08 What should I avoid after waxing?

We’ll go through aftercare properly after your treatment, but in short - give your skin a break for 24-48 hours.

  • No gym (yes, really)
  • No saunas or hot baths
  • No heavy sweating
  • Avoid tight clothing

Basically - don’t punish freshly waxed skin. It’s already been through enough.

09 How often should I book in?

Usually every 4-6 weeks depending on your hair growth.

The sweet spot is consistency - smoother results, easier appointments and happier skin.

Leave it too long and we’re basically back to square one.

10 Is it hygienic and safe?

Absolutely - this isn’t a DIY kitchen job.

  • Professional-grade products
  • Strict hygiene protocols
  • No double-dipping. Ever.
  • Skin assessed before every treatment

You’re in safe, experienced hands the whole time.
